SOMERSET'S marquee overseas signing for 2024, Will Sutherland, will no longer be coming to Taunton after being ruled out through injury.
The Australian all-rounder has sustained an injury, which on medical advice, will rule him out of his contract with Somerset.
Somerset CCC Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry said: “Everyone involved really feels for Will as he was relishing the challenge of playing for Somerset this summer, and we wish him a swift recovery.
“Obviously, it’s a blow to lose a quality player this close to the start of the season, and our focus now is to secure a suitable replacement.”
Unfortunately, he will now not be in a position to join Somerset as planned and will undergo a tailored rehabilitation programme in Australia.
The 24-year-old, who made his international debut earlier this year, was due to arrive at the Cooper Associates County Ground in time for the start of the County Championship campaign.
He was also set to be available for selection for the group stages of the 2024 Vitality Blast.
