TAUNTON St Andrews continued with their pre-season build up when they travelled to Kinghthayes Court near Tiverton to play T20 matches against the home side Heathcoat Cricket Club and Chard CC.
On Saturday the T20 match against Heathcoat the Saints were asked to bat first and after losing an early wicket Jay Terry joined skipper Josh Thomas and took the total onto 64 when Thomas was out for 38 off 23 balls which included seven fours and a six. Soon after Terry was out for 32 off 27 balls.
Two further wickets tumbled before James Matravers was joined by Toby Williams Thomas. The pair then remained together adding 79 runs before Matravers was out off the last ball of the innings for 26 off 27 deliveries as Saints ended their innings on 178 for six, Williams -Thomas remaining unbeaten on 53 which he smote off just 21 balls with two fours and six sixes.
When Heathcoat replied they reached 116 for eight off their 20 overs Williams-Thomas rounding off a good match with three for 12.
In the game against Chard the Saints again batted first again and scored 170 for five of which George Thomas hit 78 off 59 balls and Gallmann-Findlay 42 off 27, the pair putting on 80 for the third wicket in seven overs.
When Chard replied they were bowled out for 97 in 18.4 overs Scott top scoring with 24, while Rhys Hockey took three wickets for 20.
In the Saints 40 over game against Heathcoat on Sunday the home team opted to bat first and made 163 all out in 39 overs, opener Harry Everett who plays for Wembdon on Saturdays top scoring with 46.
For the visitors Lloyd Alley claimed four for 17 while Graham Fitt took three for 27.
When the visitors replied they reached 164 for four in the 30th over openers Gabriel Gallmann-Findlay and Lloyd Alley hitting 43 and 38 respectively.
This weekend should have seen all of the senior and junior teams from Taunton Saint Andrews and Taunton Deane playing against each other for the Brice -Nelson Trophy, however in view of e recent wet weather only the match between the two First XIs will take place at the Convent Field.
