Taunton Town Football Club played host to it’s last cup final of the season last week when Taunton North FC took on Trinity Rangers in the Jim Jowett Cup.
Taunton North and Trinity played out a fantastic game at Wordsworth Road that was hard fought from both sides.
Trinity opened the scoring in the first half and quickly took it to 2-0 before the half-time whistle blew.
When the teams came out for the second half though, Taunton North were the quickest out of the blocks and got the game back on level terms at 2-2.
The two sides could not be separated for the rest of the game until a 94th minute penalty was given to Taunton, and they converted, giving them a 3-2 lead that they held until the final whistle to crown themselves cup champions.
Man of the match was awarded to Trinity’s Tatenda Mashiri for his goal and excellent performance despite being on the losing side.
The match was heavily supported, with fans from both teams coming out and creating a great cup final atmosphere, along with cup sponsors Sheppy’s Cider who were on hand to present the medals and the cup.
