TAUNTON and Pickeridge Juniors have enjoyed some excellent results so far this season.
Playing at Yeovil against the home club, Wheathill and Long Sutton, Archie Austin came second in Cat 1, and in Cat 2 George Hutchings and Freddie Jarrett came first and second respectively.
In addition to this, Cooper Baker came fourth in Cat 3 results. That puts T&P in a good league position going forward.
At Saltford in the Junior Open recently Finlay Pike and Ben Newman both scored 78 gross to finish in first and second place respectively. Very well done to both of them.
A special thank you must got to Jan Hill and Berni Hatcher for the tireless effort they put in to making the Junior Section at T&P such a success.
The Ladies section played a qualifying round for the R & A Coronation Foursomes this week.
The winning team who will go forward to the regional final at Henbury Golf Club, Bristol in July was Rosie Spragg and Louise Worth with an impressive 42 points.
The Men's Bucks team have played two matches so far, firstly beating Burnham and Berrow which is always is always an achievement. Worlebury away, however, was a sterner test and they came second on this occasion.
The Avalon Senior team suffered a rare home defeat again Isle of Wedmore but put it right by beating local rivals enemies Enmore by 4 1/2 - 1/2.
Congratulations to T&P Ladies who travelled to play against Enmore Park in the Wessex League on very cold day. The match was played in a good spirit and T&P won 14 -2 points!
The Captain/Pro challenge has got off to a good start and anyone who wants to take up the challenge should sign up.
The Captains' Day, which is a four-person waltzing bow maker competition is taking place at T&P on June 15, so make a date in the diary and sign up for what is always a special day at the Club.
Finally congratulations to Jon and his team for the rapid tining and sanding operation recently and how quickly they have been able to get the greens back to playability.
