TAUNTON and Pickeridge Golf Club captain Mike Robinson held his captain's away day at a wet and windy Teignmouth Golf Club on Thursday, which was attended by a large group of members. 

Despite the conditions the winning team of Paulette Bamburger Worton, Tim Paris, David Dow and Ian Smith played well and were victors by one point.

Saturday saw the Annual Captain’s day at T&P. A full field played a modified Stableford competition with the team of Robert Contreras, Charles Fuller, Jonathan Webster and James Poole ran out winners by 3 points on 106.

A putting competition was organised by Lady Captain, Emma Smith, and cakes were made by the lady golfers to raise funds. The captain was indebted to Terry and Susan, volunteers from the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance who manned the cake stall.

Both events were in aid of the captain's charity, the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, and £1,500 was raised from both events thanks to the generosity of the playing members.

This week the T&P ladies section played in the Foundation Brooch Medal competition.  

The winner of the Foundation Brooch was Debbie Goodman with a nett score of 68, four ahead of runner up Barbara Barber who came in with 72.

The Foundation medal competition is played in support of the Golf Foundation which provides golf instruction in schools. They currently support over 2500 schools and introduce over 225,000 young people to golf annually.

T&P hosted the Junior Open last Sunday which attracted 36 entries, 10 home players and 26 visitors for the 18 hole medal and Justin Rose Daily Telegraph Junior Championship Qualifier. that was played in dry and mostly sunny, if a little chilly weather.

The Gross champion, winning the Junior Gross Trophy and also the Andrew Hayes Trophy for best T&P Junior Open gross score, was Ben Newman and the player winning the Junior Open Nett Trophy was Henry Bright from Woodbury Park GC. 

The Nearest the Pin on the sixth hole was won by Lewis Walters (T&P), while on the 16th Rhys Pugh (Wells) claimed the prize.

The Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Golf Championship Qualifiers in the gross competition were Ben Newman and Freya Keirl (Wells) and in the nett Henry Bright and Harriett Isaacs both qualify.
