Wellington AFC kicked off their pre-season preparations with a win over Tavistock.

The game, at Taunton's Castle School on Saturday, was won by Jake Quick, who recently returned from Axminster Town.

He seized the opportunity to score when Tavistock's goalkeeper parried a low shot by Josh Lukins.

During the off-season, the team has also learnt learnt its opponents for both the FA Cup and FA Vase.

Wellington AFC will play at home against Buckland Athletic in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup on August 3.

The match will be moved to an alternate location due to a cricket match on the playing field.

The winning team will then go up against Bideford or Bridgwater United away from home on August 17.

In the FA Vase, Wellington received a bye in the first qualifying round and will host either Sidmouth Town or Torrington in the second round on September 21.

Looking ahead, the club's pre-season plans were dealt a blow after it was announced their trip to Chard Town on Wednesday was postponed due to a scheduling conflict.

They must now look ahead to away games against Minehead (July 17), Newton Abbot Spurs (July 20), and Bridgwater and Taunton College (July 23).

Wellington AFC's Western League Premier Division season will kick off against Ilfracombe Town on July 27.

In addition to their vigorous match schedule, Wellington AFC will hold their annual meeting in the clubhouse on Thursday, July 11, starting at 8pm.
