Taunton Town Football Club have played two pre-season matches so far this summer and came away from both games as emphatic winners, putting them in good stead ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

First up was a trip to local rivals Bridgwater United who play in Premier Division of the newly re-named Jewson’s Western League.

However, despite the local rivalry it didn’t take long for Taunton to assert their dominance as Evander Grubb put them 1-0 up on the 15th minute mark.

Owen Brain and David Duru then added one each on the 58th and 86th minute respectively to compound Bridgwater’s misery and give Taunton the 3-0 victory ahead of their next pre-season fixture against Bishops Lydeard.

Taunton went into the game much higher in the football pyramid than Lydeard and it quickly showed.

An early goal in the 2nd minute for Archie Ferris opened the scoring for The Peacocks and it set the tone for the game.

Ferris doubled his goal tally on the 40th minute, whilst Duru, Grubb, and two trialists also got on the score sheet to give Taunton an impressive 6-0 win after full time.

Taunton go on to play Nailsea & Tickenham in their third pre-season game on July 12th.
