Wellington AFC’s second pre-season friendly resulted in a 3-0 defeat away to Shaftesbury, newly promoted to the Southern League, today (Saturday).

Another useful workout saw striker Jake Quick hit the inside of the post before the hosts went ahead after 36 minutes when a cross-shot was deflected past keeper Jake Viney.

Shaftesbury wrapped up victory with two goals in the final 17 minutes, the first from the penalty spot and the second from close range seven minutes later.

Wellington finished 15th in the Western League Premier Division last season.

Next up for the Tangerines is a trip to West Somerset side Minehead on Wednesday.
