Friday evening brought Minehead’s second game in two days, when a more experienced Devon League XI outfit from North Molton came over the hills to The Rec.

Fielding a completely different starting XI, Minehead faced by the strongest pre-season line-up to date, but Craig Carr wanted to get games into everyone’s legs and played another experimental side.

The Stags from North Molton edged ahead when last season’s top scorer Josh Stoneman ran on to a through ball with the home defence playing high and slotted home passed Jack Harding.

Nine minutes into the second half the referee adjudged that Joe Wilkinson was fouled on the very edge of the box, and he stepped up to slam the penalty home himself to level the scores.

The Blues pressed hard for a winner, hitting the woodwork twice in the closing minutes.
