A busy three days at Taunton & Pickeridge Golf Club began on Friday 12th July when they hosted the 32nd Charity Pro-Am.
Jamie Clare (Long Sutton), and Toby Hunt (Whitchurch), both shot four under par 65 to tie for the Professional’s prize. Ashley Mansell (Clevedon), finished in third place on two under par and Dan Carter (Weymouth) fourth on one under par.
Together with his three amateur playing partners, Robin Goodey (Downes Crediton) won the team prize with a score of 89 points.
In the team event it was Robin Goodey (Downes Crediton), Steve Coomber, Martin Short and , Kelvin Oxley who were the winners with 89 points.
Two teams returned with 88 points, but after countback it was Mark Luckett (Yeovil), Kevin Parker, Terina Parker and Nigel Gridley who were second just ahead of Ryan Pope (Exeter), Gareth Eggle, Harvey Dening, and Paul Tuffin , while fourth place was claimed by Scott Bellinger (Cannington), Leighton Davis, John Phillips and Mark Bellamy on 87, also on countback.
The Pro-Am contributed £2500 towards Club Captain, Mike Robinson’s, and Ladies’ Captain, Emma Smith’s, fundraising efforts for the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance.
The T&P Club Championships then took place over the weekend a.d at the end of another successful two days the winners were as follows-
Junior Club Championship Nett: George Hutchings (nett 142)
Junior Club Championship Gross: Ben Newman (gross 145)
Ladies’ Club Championship Bronze Gross Trophy: Emma Smith (gross 192)
Ladies’ Club Championship Nett: Marion Mittermaier (nett 141)
Ladies’ Club Championship Gross: Helen Hayward (gross 165)
Club Championship Nett: Chris Maggs (nett 134)
Club Championship Gross: Alistair Hess (gross 140)
Senior Club Championship Nett: Dave Clarke (nett 64)
Senior Club Championship Gross: Tony Reed (gross 74)
On Tuesday the Ladies Section played the Jubilee Trophy open to those who didn't play in the Club Championships last weekend.
The winner in the top division was Berni hatcher with 36 points, one ahead of second placed Jan Hill. Ali McGown was third on countback from Jane Ledsham after both scored 34 points.
Division Two was topped by Roz Pocklington with 39 points, who was the overall winner of the Jubilee Trophy , Margaret Nation was second on countback from Heather Crump after both scored 36.
