With the original opponents Elmore not being able to make the trip due to having arranged another game for the night before, Craig Carr put two sides together from his extended first team squad plus serious hopefuls, writes Brian Walder.
Janusz Jasielczuki put the Purples ahead mid-way through the first half, but full back Jack Campbell-Farmer levelled the scores before the break.
The second half saw plenty of rolling substitutions with Carr fully taking the opportunity for further experimentation.
Sam Heath edged the Purples in front again, but the Blues ended up winning thanks to two goals from Josh Elston, the goal of the game being his perfect right footed free kick which nestled right in the top corner, adding to the growing list of exceptional individual goals in Minehead’s so far successful, pre-season outings.

With twenty-seven players taking part, and literally ten more players who were unavailable on Saturday, the manager is spoilt for choice and the early signs are very positive for Minehead being able to field strong first, second and third elevens this season.
The situation is further testament of the hard work being put in by the youth set up, both on and off the pitch, including the very positive growth of the ladies and girls sides.
Two further home friendlies have now been arranged on Wednesday 31st against Bishops Lydeard (7:45) followed by Wellington Reserves on Saturday at 3pm.
The County League season then kicks off on Saturday August 10th when the first team host Middlezoy Rovers Reserves at The Rec, followed by another attractive home league match the following Saturday against Glastonbury.
