Sunday August 4, saw the regular season of South West and Wales Baseball League end for Taunton Baseball Club.
The Muskets, one of the club's teams, played against the Cornish Pioneers in Truro, while the Pistols battled the Cornish Claycutters at home in Taunton.
It was a challenging game for the Pistols, who were defeated by the Wessex Division leaders 20-2, and 25-2, the Muskets ended their season on a high note with victories 15-5 and 20-6 over the Cornish Pioneers.
The Muskets had a stylish end to the season, despite not making it to the postseason.
The team recorded a notable 32 hits across the two games, with all of their ten players reaching base.
The afternoon held a special moment with a grand slam home run in the second game by Chris Cranmer.
Fumihito Yasuhara presented a commanding solo performance with 12 strikeouts in the first game.
The Pistols had a difficult time on their turf at Taunton Green.
They faced the Cornish Claycutters, who have consistently led the division from the season's start.
However, the Pistols did demonstrate some defensive prowess by perfectly executing a trick play.
Their season concluded with six wins, placing them fourth in the division.
The Pistols manager, Wesley Whitaker, spoke optimistically, stating everyone performed well.
He noted that despite the team having a rough first season, he looked forward to witnessing what the team could achieve in the following year.
Lastly, the Tricky Cider's MVP for the season was Fumihito Yasuhara for the Muskets and Wesley Whitaker for the Pistols.
Both demonstrated stellar pitching and contributed at the plate too.
Although the regular season is over, Taunton Baseball Club is not in off-season mode yet.
The club is offering youth sessions for ages 4-14 years starting from Friday, August 9, and they will also be celebrating its tenth anniversary at Taunton Green on September 8.
