Taunton Town clinched their first win of the new season with victory over fellow Somerset side Frome Town on Bank Holiday Monday.
David Duru and Evander Grubb scored the goals in a 2-0 win to give the Peacocks their first taste of victory in the league since their relegation from National League South last season.
Taunton Town went into the fixture on the back of a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Sholing on Saturday (August 24) and made two changes for their starting XI with David Duru and Jayden Nielsen coming in for Archie Ferris and Owen Brain.
The match started in a scrappy fashion with both sides working each other out but Taunton Town did managed to force a couple of corners, both of which came to nothing.
On 14 minutes, the Peacocks had their first shot on goal as Eddie Jones hit his attempt over the bar.
As the half hour came, Frome started to ask a few questions of the defence and on 35 minutes the bar was rattled as a shot at Parkes was fumbled but the rebound hit the crossbar.
On 39 minutes a cross/shot from Frome winger Marcus Day tested the Taunton defence but four minutes later, Taunton Town took the lead.
David Duru showed good pace down the left hand side and one-on-one with the goalkeeper he slotted it home.
Taunton lead 1-0 at half time.
The Peacocks had a few corners in the early stages of the second half, but Frome soon assumed control in their bid to equalise but could only manage a Day free kick which came to nothing.
On 66 minutes, Taunton made three changes as Owen Brain, Evander Grubb and Archie Ferris all came on for Jayden Nielson, Tom Smith and goal scorer David Duru.
Five minutes later, Taunton scored their crucial second goal as Grubb showed good pace and set up Brain to slot home.
Frome pushed for a way back into the game but the Taunton defence looked solid and kept the clean sheet.
