Taunton Town have announced that Morgan Lewis has joined the club on a three-month loan deal from Weston-super-Mare AFC.

The young defender joined the Seagulls during the summer and has already made four appearances in the National League South, being able to operate on the left side as a wing back or centre half.

The loan signing of Morgan will reinforce defensive options following the unfortunate injury to Tiago Sa against Didcot in the FA Cup, and the new loanee made his debut in Town's 3-3 home draw with Hanwell Town.

Morgan progressed through Cardiff City’s youth system, featuring for both the Under-18s and Under-21s until leaving in the summer of 2023 following the end of his scholarship. He promptly signed for Southern League Division One South new boys Mousehole, going on to make 39 appearances for them last season and helping them to reach the play-offs.

Taunton manager Richard Luffman said:” I’ve been a long term admirer of Morgan who played against Cribbs last year when he was at Mousehole, and we were heavily invested in bringing him to the club in the summer but understood his decision to go to Weston to play a higher level of football.

"He’s had a brilliant start there although their upturn in form has coincided with him being a little bit out of favour in terms of starting games.

"He wants to play football and wanted to come and play for Taunton which is great for us, and we were delighted to have him here which gives us nice balance down the left hand side.

"I’m sure that we’re going to help him in his development as he obviously wants to go back and play National League football.

"Many thanks to Scott Rogers and Scott Bartlett at Weston for allowing it to happen.”
