Wiveliscombe 1sts secured a narrow victory away to Pirates Amateurs in a Western Counties encounter.
A solid first-half performance gave them a 14-point lead by the break.
The match ended with Wiveliscombe ahead by just three points, at 20-17.
Pirates Amateurs opened the scoring with an early penalty from Ben Wragg, but Wiveliscombe's fly-half Dan Quick soon levelled the score.
Influential scrum-half Richard Baker then scored the first try for Wiveliscombe, with Quick adding the conversion.
Captain Will Ellis further increased the visitors' lead with another try, again converted by Quick, bringing the half-time score to 17-3 in favour of Wiveliscombe.
However, Penzance fought back in the second half, scoring two tries through centres Harris Eddy and Joe Norways, both converted by full-back Ben Wragg, levelling the score at 17-17.
Wiveliscombe managed to secure the victory with a late penalty from Dan Quick, lifting the Somerset team to third place in the Western Counties West league.
Wiveliscombe's next fixtures are set for Saturday, September 21, with the 1st XV facing Barnstaple 2nds XV at home, and the 2nd XV playing Morganians, both with kick-offs at 2.30pm.
