Richard Luffman believes Taunton Town have found their identity in recent matches after the Peacocks secured a second home win on the bound.

Town defeated Swindon Supermarine at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium on Tuesday (September 24) 3-1 and manager Luffman was pleased to have beaten a good side.

Speaking to the club's social media, he said: “We were a little bit apprehensive about how tonight would go to be honest because we know how well they would use the ball.

“We went toe-to-toe with them and without being disrespectful we’ve dominated the game of football really.

“I’m not sure (Adam) Parkes has made a save and their goalkeeper has been unbelievable.

“Our press was good, our shape was good. They had their moments without really hurting us…a really good squad performance tonight.”

Taunton Town made a fast start in the match against Swindon Supermarine and Luffman said that was the plan.

He added: “We knew they were going to play out, we had to be aggressive, we wanted to get numbers in those areas to win the balls back then we looked a threat.

“Really, we should have scored two in the first half. Just a great win, delighted with the performance.”

Luffman said the 2-2 draw with Plymouth Parkway earlier this month seems to have been a catalyst for a run of winning form both in the league and in the FA Cup.

He added: “We realised what we were and we look like a good side at the moment and teams coming here are going to have a tough night or afternoon.”
