Taunton Town manager Richard Luffman has paid tribute to the fans after his team’s exit from the FA Cup on Tuesday night.
The Peacocks were beaten 3-0 at Maidenhead United on Tuesday (October 15) in their FA Cup fourth qualifying round replay but speaking to the club’s media, Luffman spoke of the fans’ connection with the team since the start of the season.
He said: “We heard them all game (tonight) and it was nice to get a good reception after losing coming off the pitch but we don’t expect anything else, they’ve been brilliant and there’s a real good connection between the players management and the fans.”
Speaking about the match itself, he felt Taunton Town were at least equal with Maidenhead for the majority of both matches. He said: “With the exception of the first 20 (minutes) it looked like a league fixture which is a credit to the players.
“The first 15-20 minutes was a tough one for us. They used the ball well, got down the sides well and deservedly took a lead.
“For the remainder until injury time in the second half it was an even game with us probably having the better chances.”
