Martock Rovers FC has been given a huge boost thanks to a new sports fund.

The £100,000 Gigaclear Rural Sports Club Fund, backed by former England cricketer Darren Gough, aims to support rural clubs.

Martock Rovers FC, formed in 2004, is one such beneficiary.

The club, which plays at the Recreation Ground in Church Street, has been able to purchase essential equipment including training poles, rebound nets, flat discs, cones, free-kick aids, and new goals.

This will assist the young footballers in honing their skills and progressing in their sport.

Club chairman John Knott said: "Thanks to Gigaclear’s Rural Sports Club Fund, we’ve been able to invest in some fantastic new training equipment.

"Like all grassroots clubs, financing new equipment is always a challenge, and so this sponsorship is a big boost.

"The new equipment will provide all our fantastic coaches with new options to help develop their players’ skills.

"From me, the coaches, and all the players at Martock Rovers, we’d like to say a massive thank you to Gigaclear."

"It’s great to see so much kit and equipment being sent out to rural sports clubs such as Martock Rovers FC.

"I believe it will help make a difference to players now and to the rural sports teams of the future."

The fund is designed to support teams based in rural communities across Gigaclear's full-fibre network, which spans 26 counties.

In Martock alone, more than 2,200 homes and businesses can now access Gigaclear’s full fibre broadband, offering speeds up to 900Mbps.
