Somerset County Cricket Club is delighted to have signed wicketkeeper Katie Jones.
The 20-year-old, who is a product of the Gloucestershire Pathway system, has signed an initial two-year deal.
Katie made her Gloucestershire debut in 2021 and was named in the Western Storm Academy the following year.
Her Storm debut came in 2023, and she went on to feature in 13 matches for the team.
She has played four international fixtures for England Under -19s, making a half century on her ODI debut against Australia in Galle this April and was named captain for the U19 IT20 against Sri Lanka.
After putting pen to paper on her contract, Katie said: “It’s amazing! To be given the opportunity to sign a professional contract is something that I’ve always dreamed of. It’s incredible, and I can’t wait to get started, I love the South West, and Somerset is such a great club.
“There’s a sense of excitement that this group has been given the opportunity and the responsibility to set the standard for professional women’s cricket. Aligning with the men’s team will hopefully mean that we can create a big fanbase and inspire both girls and boys across the region.”
