Taunton Town manager Richard Luffman said his side ‘owed the supporters one’ after his side secured victory over Walton & Hersham.

The Peacocks came away from Surrey on Tuesday (November 5) night with all three points thanks to a goal from Archie Moulden.

Speaking to the club’s media after the game, manager Richard Luffman gave credit to Walton & Hersham who had been undefeated for eight months prior to this match.

He said: “You can see why they were unbeaten for eight months – really, really, good. They use the ball well and they’ve got threats in both wide areas but you can see that we are also a very good side, though a bit more a work in progress in terms of a group.

“I thought it was a proper hum dinger, I thought both teams went for it. We’ve taken an unbelievable goal from Alfie Moulden and they’ve hit the bar and Josh Gould has made an unbelievable save but I think it could have gone either way.

“We owed out supporters one…and everyone has put in a proper shift and it’s a massive win for us.”

He told the fans to ‘stick with us’ after recent defeats. He added: “I know its easy sometimes after a couple of tough ones to start questioning things and I know there have been questions about our lack of centre forward and our form over the last two away games but what we have got is lads that will work incredibly hard.

“All of them care – really, really care. We’re going to be an enjoyable watch this year and thank you for backing us.”
