Captain changes have taken place at Wedmore Golf Club.
The seniors were the first to change leadership, kicking off their AGM with a 15-hole match between teams representing the current and incoming captains.
Vice-captain James Robertson, alongside Captain-elect Kevin Vaux, won with a score of 38 points.
Current club captain Dave Bedford and Mike Smith secured the best score of the day at 39 points, while next year's vice-captain Lucas Kirk and Peter Laney came in third with 37 points.
Current captain Peter Roberts reflected on his successful year before anticipating a more restful one ahead.
At the same time, the ladies' final competition was a nine-hole shambles.
New captain Fran McMillan and her team topped the tables with 60 points.
Retiring captain Lyn Bird was not part of the winning team but could look back on a successful tenure.
The weekend competition was a Stableford in honour of the Royal British Legion.
Ian Williams, in Division 1, and Jon Raeside in Division 2 both had decisive wins, scoring 41 and 44 points, respectively.
Paul Russell, in Division 3, had the best score of the day with 44 points, six ahead of runner-up Charles Sweeney.
In the ladies’ category, Trish Major led the pack with 37 points.
The competition was marked by notable victories and significant wins, contributing to the club's spirited atmosphere.
As the captains change and competitions continue, Wedmore Golf Club maintains its tradition of friendly rivalry and sportsmanship.
