Wellington's impressive run of eight consecutive was brought to a resounding end by Bridgwater United.
The match, played on Saturday at the Playing Field, saw Wellington's momentum disrupted as former player Jack Taylor scored all four goals for the visitors.
The local derby began energetically, with two goals within the first 11 minutes.
Bridgwater's Taylor opened the scoring with a header, only for Wellington's young defender Sam Gleeson to equalise shortly thereafter.
Gleeson, who had a standout performance earning the man-of-the-match title, scored his first goal for the club after a well-executed series of passes.
However, Wellington struggled to regain control, with Taylor capitalising on a defensive error to make it 2-1 just before the half-hour mark.
Bridgwater's lead could have been extended by another former Wellington player, Josh Wadham, whose remarkable long-range shot was thwarted by a spectacular save from Wellington's keeper Jake Viney.
The visitors did not relent, with Taylor outpacing the home defence to complete his hat-trick on the hour mark.
Wellington's misfortunes compounded 10 minutes from the end when yet another defensive lapse allowed Taylor to secure his fourth goal of the match.
Despite Gleeson almost scoring again with a header that struck the post, Wellington's overall performance was disappointing.
The defeat saw Richard Cherry’s side drop from sixth to eighth in the table.
Wellington will be striving to bounce back from this defeat when they face Cheddar at home in the Les Phillips Cup on Wednesday night.
The team, managed by Richard Cherry, included players Jake Viney, Mark Cornish, Tom Stone, Jason Quick, Sam Gleeson, Charlie Wilson, Sam Pashen, Josh Lukins, Nathan Byrne, Miles Quick, and Jake Quick.
Substitutes used were Ryan Hibbert and Kieran Ireland, with Jordan Hayman remaining unused.
