SOMERSET born Lando Norris faces a fight to win at this weekend’s Las Vegas Grand Prix.

To stand a chance of a place on the podium, the 25-year-old from Glastonbury must take at least three points out of Max Verstappen’s 62-point lead.

Verstappen has already won the last three races and Las Vegas could be his fourth successive Formula One drivers’ championship.

Norris, who was educated at Millfield School, must finish ahead of the Verstappen by at least one position, or by two or more in the unlikely event of neither making the podium. He needs to take points from Verstappen to event extend the title battle for the penultimate race in Quatar.

It’s a tough test for Somerset’s Norris on Sunday, November 24, as even sixth-placed finishes in all three remaining races would be enough to guarantee Verstappen the title, regardless of his rival’s results.

Verstappen won his first title by just eight points from Lewis Hamilton in a controversial finish to 2021’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix but has been dominant in the years since.

He would be the second-youngest four-time champion, a year older than Vettel. The German is the only previous driver to win his first four titles in consecutive seasons.
