In his previous spell at the club, he led the club to promotion to the National League South in 2022 and was captain through those two campaigns before Taunton were relegated last season.

Speaking to the club’s media after the announcement, manager Richard Luffman said: “It shows how much of a big football club this is because there would have been a pull to go and play for his previous manager…but Taunton being his club, that was obviously the draw back to us and outstanding for us.

“Credit to what we’ve done over the last four or five months for that to be an option for Nick. He’s looked at that and gone ‘I can see the club is on the up again’.
“On a leadership point of view, Tom (Smith) our captain has been outstanding for us and we’ve got people like Eddie (Jones) and Toby (Down) but it adds another leader to the group.
“He’s a top defender and it gives that flexibility back to go to a three or a four.”
Exeter City youth academy graduate Grimes, who is the brother of Swansea City captain Matt, amassed an impressive 175 appearances for the Peacocks before his departure.
Nick Grimes’ former club Bath City also posted on social media about the transfer. A spokesman for the club said: “Following an approach from Taunton Town, an agreement has been reached for the transfer of Nick Grimes’s registration to the Southern League Premier South club.
“We thank Nick for his time at the Club and wish him well for the future.”
