TAUNTON Town manager Gary Domone has provided a much-needed boost to his side's firepower by signing 19-year-old striker Matt Fisher from Weston-super-Mare.

Town have hit only one goal in their last two friendly matches with just two strikers Alexis Piper and Chris Wright remaining from last season's squad. And his side's lack of cutting edge has showed in recent matches the latest a goalless draw at Toolstation League Premier Division Street on Tuesday.

Domone also looks certain to sign right back Ben Wiltshire, who was outstanding for the club in the second half of last season after joining on loan from Bristol Rovers.

Town's boss has also secured the signature of Royal Marine Jay Barton, whose previous clubs include Taunton's Southern League rivals Bashley. Barton is a midfielder who can also play up front.

"It was a good work-out at Street and I was very pleased with the clean sheet, which was our second in a row," said Domone.

"But we didn't look threatening enough up front and didn't create many chances.

"Hopefully Matt Fisher will come in and help in that department but I'm still looking to bring other strikers in."

At the end of last season, Domone suffered a blow by losing his two top strikers Aaron Blakemore and Ryan Havard to Southern League Premier Division clubs.
