MINEHEAD complete their pre-season preparations with a friendly match at home to Devon League outfit Witheridge on Saturday.

It will give Seasiders' player-manager Steve Perkins a final chance to look at players before their first league game.

Minehead begin the Toolstation League Division One season at home to Cadbury Heath on August 12.

Last Saturday, Minehead went down 2-1 against touring Birmingham side Fairfield Villa, with Curtis Hodgson getting the Seasiders' goal.

Despite the result, Perkins was pleased with his side's display and also with the way his squad is shaping up.

"We played the ball round very well in the first half," said Perkins.

"We just lacked a cutting edge up front which is something I've got to address.

"Other than that, we looked very sharp and out fitness levels were were excellent.

"Things are looking good for our first league game and I'm confident we will be ready.

"The likes of Simon Lyons, Andy Hall, Brian Hall and Luke Taylor have all re-signed and Adam Sparks has re-joined us from Porlock.

"I'm also hoping Lee Nunn, who was our player of the year last season, will sign even though he has been training with Bridgwater."
