WITH just 23 days until Titans run out to face Redruth Reds at Hyde Park, promotions man Colin Bentley has called on the Taunton community to feed on the spirit of London 2012.

Bentley said: “Sport has a unique ability to pull people together in a united spirit.

“I'm delighted to see the mono-culture of soccer for once swept aside on the sports pages as Team GB takes on the athletic youth of the world in friendly competition.

“Few can deny the emotions and passions sweeping the nation as years of work, sweat and tears have inspired our competitors to raise the bar on personal and team performance.

“Organisers, coaches and competitors dared to dream and the result is palpable for all to see."

“Taunton Titans may not be world-class rugby superstars but they are striving to raise the bar with their individual and team performances.

Titans coach Tony Yapp said: “Pre-season is going well. We’ll be competitive, but I’d still like to see a couple of top drawer old heads recruited, budget permitting.”

Titans face the Pride of the Duchy, Redruth Reds, at Hyde Park on Saturday, September 1.
