The Bishops Lydeard AFC ladies section has got off to a flying start after being inspired by GB ladies football team at the Olympics.

The team played Staplegrove in their second pre-season game, providing a great chance for manager Julie Bowker to try out new players and new formations.

Lydeard are always looking for new players of any age and ability. Training takes place at Bishops Lydeard AFC, Darby Way, every Tuesday and Thursday from 7pm to 8.30pm.

Lydeard are also looking for managers for their Ladies reserve team and the Under-8s who will be playing in the Tony Pryce youth league for the first time.

The ladies are a promising young group of footballers who play on Sundays in Division one of the Womens County League.

The role would involve working closely with the Ladies first team and full support will be given.
