AFTER winning the Evelyn Yeadle, Watchet Ladies were hosts for the three other local clubs to play for The Ray Thorne Shield last Tuesday.

On a damp evening played was curtailed to 15 ends and the winners were Porlock with 47 shots. Second were Watchet with 41, third Minehead with 36 and fourth Williton with 29.

On Wednesday Watchet Ladies won 48-38 at home to Taunton Ladies when the weather again restricted play to 15 ends.

Scores: R Warren, L Talling and P Christopher won 17-13; R McKay, M Binding and H McDermaid won 22-15; L Steel, V Hornblow and J Groves lost 9-10.

Watchet B travelled to Taunton B on Saturday for a top of the table clash and Taunton won quite easily, 72-52, relegating Watchet to second spot.

Scores: A Knight, G Vaulter, C Williams and R Somerfield lost 15-29; L Townsend, T Standing, D Lynam and J Hooper lost 11-20; A Taylor, J Burnett, N Chidgey and C Bruford won 26-23.

On Sunday Wellington took four rinks to Watchet for a friendly, Watchet winning 87-61.
