TWO members of the Running Forever Running Club completed the Salisbury 54321 50 kilometre (31 miles) ultra marathon last weekend.
The scenic multi-terrain route visited five rivers, four hills, three country estates, two castles and a cathedral and was run from the fire station in aid of the firefighters charity.
Although the race started with rain, the day gradually became hot and humid – not ideal running conditions – however the water stations were positioned every 5km or so.
The race was mostly self-guided with arrows and route instructions, but navigation was relatively simple, with the final stage passing through the cathedral close and the city centre.
Results: 59th David Urwin (5hr 19m 56s); 95th Peter Hall (6hr 9m 55s) There were 113 finishers from 118 starters.
