Taunton Deane swimmers finished off the 2011-2012 season in style, taking their tally from national championships to 19 medals in two years - a British record to add to an English record.

Deane also finished fifth top club in the country with the girls missing out on top club in the very last event.

National championships are split into two sections - the youth championships and the age championships.

In the Youth Championships Libby Mitchell won the 100m butterfly in a very fast time.

The event also saw Kirsty Manning doing well despite a bout of tonsillitis. Joe Marsh also swam very well to make the senior age group 100m butterfly final.

Esme Gullick and Steph Reynolds both swam well to make finals in their respective strokes.

The club also had some very positive relays swims with both Sam Young and Kirsty Manning performing well.

Taunton Deane swimmers also shone at the Age championships.

Charlie also won the 100m breast in an English record time in the final having set a British record at the half-way point in the semi-final.

Kayleigh Parker, (12), made finals all week and swam remarkably well to secure bronze medals in both the 200m and 400 individual medley and narrowly missed out on medals in the breaststroke events.

Beth Newton, (13), made the 100m backstroke final as well as the 4x100m free and 4x200m free finals and. In the same age group Georgia Ardren qualified for both the 100m and 200m back finals.

The age group relays were prominent through the week competing in every discipline for both boys and girls.

The girls competed for medals in all the finals, just missing out on the 4x100m freestyle and 4 x 200m freestyle. The girls did however manage to push City of Leicester the whole way on the 4x100m medley, taking it to the very last stroke with Georgia Ardren, Becky Wilde, Lydia Lavallin and Evan King securing silver.

The boys competed well in all three of their relays.
