WELLINGTON sprint sensation Ronnie Wells has run the race of his life to become the English Under-17s 100m Champion.
Wells entered the competition at Bedford International Stadium as second favourite to Jermaine Hamilton but smashed his best time to take the gold.
In the heat, Wells ran 10.75, easing up with 20 metres to go. And he went even faster in the semi-final, clocking 10.57 but a +2.8 wind made the time illegal for record purposes.
The final set him up against his great rival Hamilton and he raced home in a personal best time of 10.58 to take the title.
Wells (is now a force to reckoned with in the world: he is now ranked first in the under-17s 100m for 2012; eighth in the under-17s all-time rankings; and third fastest in the World rankings.
