SOMERSET have swooped to sign former England paceman Saj Mahmood on loan until the end of this season to help to overcome the number of bowlers currently on the injured list at the club, writes Richard Walsh.

The 30-year-old who has played in eight Test matches and 26 ODIs for England has been brought in to help to solve the Cidermen's growing injury list and was expected to make his debut for the Cidermen in the vital championship match against Sussex which started at the County Ground yesterday.

Mahmood, who has not been a regular member of the Lancashire team lately, made his debut for the Cidermen in the current championship game against Sussex and is also available to play in the remaining CB40 games of this season.

Mahmood has taken 315 first class wickets and 282 List A and T20 wickets in addition to which he is a more than useful lower order batsman.
