Wellington driver Anthony Wright stormed to two victories Wiscombe Park Speed Hillclimb meeting at the weekend.

They came in the 1,800cc to 2,600cc division of the Road-going Series Production Car category.

In the Saturday event the operations manager posted a time of 44.75 seconds to take the win by four tenths from Ford Escort driver Gary Pitt.

The following day Wright found some extra pace to record a best climb of 44.23 seconds and to extend his winning margin over second placed Shaun Roberts (Peugeot 205 GTi) to over six tenths of a second.

Saturday’s meeting saw Taunton’s Simon Howard took a second place in the up to 1,400cc division of the Road-going category in his Citroen Saxo, the telephone engineer climbing the 900 metre Wiscombe course in 51.26 seconds.

This weekend sees the final events of the season at Wiscombe Park with the MG Car Club taking the stage on the Saturday with an entry which will see modern classics, performance cars and kit cars take to the track with the MGs as well as a selection of single-seater racing cars.

The following day sees a meeting dedicated to motorcycles including solos, sidecars and combinations. The testing course at Wiscombe Park always provides a spectacle with the motorcycles. Taunton will be well represented in the entry with Jimmy, Tommy and Geoff Hodges riding both Team GV Honda CRF models of different engine capacities, while Geoff will also be aboard his 640cc Team GV KTM.

Chris Keates from Wellington will campaign his Honda CRF while the family will also be represented in the sidecar class when the successful duo of Paul and Patrick take to the track with their Baker F1 outfit.
