Wellington beat Chard by five wickets with plenty of balls to spare in their first match of the Somerset Cricket Board indoor competition today.

WEPL Premier Two side Chard were put into bat and they got away to a good start as Seward and Scott both got to the retiring mark of 25.

But from then Neil Hendy put the brakes on with a good spell of tight swing bowling that saw him bowl Clancy for five.

Warren (27 not) also did well for Chard, but they did not make the total they should have done given their start; wickets for Paul Short and George Hooper saw them make 120-3 in their 12 overs.

In reply Neil Hendy and Alex Sparks roared away with 53 in four overs of exhilarating stroke play before retiring on 27 and 31 respectively.

Thom Trott and Paul Short kept the good work going by running the ball around the arena and with knocks of 28 not and 25 not sealed an excellent win and three points with 2.2 overs left.
