Nominated by Pauline Homeshaw MBE:
HOPE Bourne has worked as a volunteer and now as a part time member of the team at Wivey Link, in the heart of Wiveliscombe, where we operate a much valued community transport scheme.
She began volunteering for us almost two years ago and we now manage to pay her for two mornings a week. She is taking a part-time course at Richard Huish College in Business Studies and wants to better her education in that field.
When Hope began in our office, she was very shy and felt difficult in answering the phone and welcoming people; however, after a short time, she has blossomed into a confident, very “unflappable” young woman.
She is an asset to the office and we feel proud we have helped play a part in her gaining so much more confidence. But she cannot afford driving lessons. She uses the bus to get to Taunton for her studies, but with proposed bus cuts this will become difficult.
